Knight Energy Services (KES) are a division of the Alfred H Knight group of companies, a privately owned laboratory and technical services group, operating and servicing clients with analytical, inspection and consulting services on a world wide basis. We have a 130 year history and our current managing director is the fourth generation of the founding family.

At KES we specialise in the sampling and testing of solid fuels; traditionally Coal and Coke but also for around the past 9 years or so biomass in various forms. We operate to national and international standard methodologies and hold ISO 17025 accreditation, awarded by The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), for the majority of our fuels testing.

We have almost 200 years technical experience between the senior personnel and are confident we would be able to assist with any sampling or testing issue that might arise in relation to solid fuels testing.

We operate analytical and sampling services nationally and internationally from our UK headquarters based at Hunterston on the west coast of Scotland. We are shortly (late 2011) to relocate to a 12,000 Sq foot biomass testing laboratory, located at Dundonald, in Ayrshire, in response to the increase in demand for biomass testing services.
