The BRE Innovation Park at Ravenscraig was opened by Alex Neil, MSP, on the 5th September 2012. It is a national hub for construction industry innovation, centrally located within one of the largest regeneration projects ever seen in Scotland.
The park is a world leading and ground breaking demonstration
development for the construction industry, serving as an exemplar
in sustainable planning and development. It is designed to give a
glimpse of how the future delivery of sustainable buildings and
communities can be achieved.
Ravenscraig is the second of two Innovation Parks in
the UK. The park has been developed under the themes of
energy, sustainability, affordability and community and will
provide a true vision of sustainable development, through
integration of the landscape, community focus and zero carbon
Showcasing emerging technologies, the latest methods of
construction and innovative products, the park:
The Innovation Park @Ravenscraig was designed to provide nine
construction plots where demonstration buildings showcase products
and technologies which meet the future energy requirements for
-Homegrown Timber House: Created by
Anderson Bell and Christie Architects, in partnership with Forestry
Commission Scotland. This house will showcase the use of
innovative homegrown timber products to deliver an affordable, low
embodied energy, healthy and thermally efficient dwelling.
-The Zero Waste Scotland House: A
demonstration of how the latest principles in resource efficiency
and waste reduction can be applied in house buildings.
-BRE Refurbished House- using
historical design information and traditional materials, BRE
Scotland will recreate a full-scale "four-in-a-block" typical
Scottish dwelling. Each of the four compartments will be
refurbished using different approaches.

already attracted interest from more than 100 organisations that
are providing innovative products and technologies for use within
the demonstration buildings, or within the landscape.
There is still the
opportunity to see if you can get your products into one of the
houses on the Park and gain international exposure for
